Austin's first birthday party!!!

We had the Very Hungry Caterpillar theme for Austin's first birthday party. It was fitting because he is our very hungry little guy. If you keep giving him food he will keep eating. We spent the night with both sets of grandparents! We had warm yummy chili and corn bread for dinner and chocolate cake with a chocolate whip cream and raspberry filling for desert. Here are some pictures from the party!

Kylee seemed more interested in opening presents than Austin did :)

By the time cake came around he was not really in the mood for cake or pictures.

Happy birthday little guy! We love you so much!!!

Austin turns ONE!!!

On December 6th Austin turned one!!! I can't believe how fast this year has gone by, and how long I have been waiting for this day all at the same time. He had his favorite breakfast, a banana and whole wheat blueberry waffle. I was a bad mommy because I scheduled two Dr appointments on this birthday, but he did great! Here are some things Austin is doing at one:

  • Goes to be at 7pm and wakes up at 6:30am (but will talk to himself quietly until his sister wakes up, around 7am)
  • Eats everything by himself!! This has made meal time a little more difficult, but he's a great eater! He will eat anything we put in front of him. His favorites are crackers, bananas, peaches, green beans waffles, and yogurt.
  • He says, "mama, dada, no, uh oh, ny ny (night night) and no... and a lot of other cute jibber jabber.
  • He loves to play outside!
  • He loves his sister. He is much easier to watch when she is around.
  • He loves playing with laptops, cell phones and computer remotes. All things we keep away from him.
  • He loves going on walks.
  • He loves to play peek-a-boo
  • His favorite thing to do right now is throw things on the tile to make a loud noise.
  • He waves bye bye.
  • Has four teeth on top and four on the bottom, and all four molars!
  • When he wakes up in the morning he won't let me put him down until he gets his bottle or he will cry. And I of course don't put him down because he is my baby and I love him so much!

He was a little nervous to sit on the table at his pediatrician's office for his one year check up. I would be too if I were him. He got 4 shots!!
As soon as I let him down to run around he was a happy camper!
Weight: 23 lbs (56%)
Height: 32 in (92%)
Head Circumference: 19in (90%)
Next he saw Dr Katz, his gastroenterology specialist. This Dr has been a life saver, and I'm happy to say that this was Austin's last visit with him!!! Now that Austin is walking he isn't throwing up his food anymore, which means he doesn't need his reflux medicine! Hoooray!! I had given him two different medicines 3x day for a year! I'm glad our little guy grew out of this and is healthy and strong.

Another first, at 11 months Grandma Poole gave Austin his first haircut! As you can see from the picture below, it was about time. It was long and stringy in the front and curly in the back. I love long hair on boys but it wasn't growing in evenly and needed a trim.
He was a little wiggly but did great!
The handsome boy after.
He loves to run around after his sister. It's hard to get a picture of him :)

Thanksgiving break...

We spent a lot of Thanksgiving break at my parents house since my mom was off school. Kylee was continually spoiled with chocolate pudding from Papa. I think she got every last drop in this cup!
Enjoyed baking turkey cookies with Grammy.
Lots and lots of cuddle/play time with uncle Reed.
On Thanksgiving day we had our annual Turkey bowl at the park. My mom stayed home with napping Austin and the turkey in the oven so I could play.
Beautiful fall leaves, that last about a week. I really miss the beautiful fall in PA.

Farewell Elder Williams!

My cousin Clayton was called to serve in the New Zealand Auckland mission!!! We were able to go to his farewell and hear him speak. He did an awesome job and I know he will be a great missionary. His love for the gospel and other people is a great example to me. We will miss you Elder Williams and you will be in our prayers!
Kylee fell asleep on the way home from church and we didn't dare wake her, so she took a cat nap in the car with the windows open. Oh, and she's not in a dress because I left it on the kitchen counter on the way out. Good thing I had her in something decent that matched to wear to church.
If anyone wonders where I get my red hair from, this is a good explanation :) My dad's beautiful sister Kiley and her family.
The grub. Clay's grandma Williams (on his other side) make the most amazing scones I have ever had. We ate Navajo tacos (chili and fixins on top of scones) for dinner and scones with a marshmallow honey butter for desert. Yum!
Gramps, Mom and Dad enjoying the nice day outside.
Brother Shane and his cute wife Tasia.
All the cousins on the Poole's side that could make it. We are missing a few key players!!

Happy Halloween!!!

Kylee has been in a few mommy and me classes through Fullerton College this year. She has really enjoyed them once she got use to the idea of being around so many kids. Going with her cousin Travis really warmed her up. Here are a few of the crafts she made this month. As you can see the ghost foot print is Austin's. Kylee didn't want to get her foot wet :) I'm grateful for these classes and the fun artwork (messes) she gets to make.

Below is Kylee's class picture. If you look really closely you can see her on the top of the stairs in the very back standing up. Halloween was a hard holiday for her because she seems to be scared of everything! She was scared of all the boy costumes, especially spider man with the mask.
Kylee and her friend Rose. Notice how they are sitting at a table all by themselves. Miss Lauri was nice to get Kylee a table of her own, away from the scary boys!

Jeremy was even able to come to class for the costume parade and class party!
Pumpkin carving!!! Kylee wasn't very interested but Jeremy and I had a fun time!
Finally, trick or treating!!! Can you tell someone is excited?

Pumpkin patch with friends!

We had a fun night catching up with our good friends the Garcia's. Neither of us could get babysitters so we decided to make a family night of it. The kids did surprisingly well at the restaurant!
Miss Jennifer
Then we headed to the pumpkin patch. There were giant turkey's, a petting zoo, pony rides, baby John Deer tractor rides, and blow up bounce houses and slides. Kylee is actually hiding from the turkey in this picture. I have a feeling Kylee isn't going to do so well with Halloween. She scares easy.... kinda like her mama.
But she loved the tractor!
Isn't Kylee's expression hilarious?
Our sweet little Austin! He did great for being out past his bedtime.
Kylee wasn't old enough to drive the tractor by herself but a sweet little girl offered to give her a ride. She could have stayed on all night!
And when we posed for a family picture Kylee was still thinking about the tractor...
