My friend gave me this apple pie recipe and it turned out so good! This is a picture of her pie. Mine looked similar, we just cut into it before I could snap a picture :) It was a great way to kick off the fall treat baking season!!!
Apple Pie by Grandma Ople (this is not my grandma but I am sure she is a nice lady)
Ingredients:
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
1/2 unsalted butter
3 tbsp flour
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
8 Granny Smith Apples- peeled, cored and sliced (I used Honeycrisp because I love them. They worked well with this recipe.)
* I added 1 tsp or so of cinnamon because I thought it would be good and it was.
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Melt butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.
2. Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apple, mound slightly. Cover with a lattice work of crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly that it does not run off.
3. Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees. Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.
Don't forget the ice cream or cool whip!! Enjoy:)
