Happy Halloween!

Kylee had so much fun celebrating Halloween this year.  She wasn't scared of EVERYTHING like she was last year and really enjoyed reading pumpkin/halloween books and watching the Charley Brown Halloween show.  Even her favorite show Doc McStuffins had some Halloween episodes!  She loved our bat decorations we put up and was so excited to carve pumpkins!  Halloween is so much more fun when kids are involved :)

Kylee's pre-school group was at our house the week before Halloween so we read Halloween books, learned about pumpkins, did a candy corn mosaic and ate Halloween treats.  It's so cute to see how excited they get when they talk about dressing up for Halloween!

Later that day we got to carve our pumpkins!  Kylee was really excited at first.  She wanted the big pumpkin to have a happy face and the little pumpkin to have a scary face.  Daddy was at school so I did my best.  As soon as Kylee pulled the top off he first pumpkin she was grossed out! She couldn't get over how bad the smell was.  It was pretty funny.

Halloween night!!  The kids ate dinner and were ready to go trick or treating!  We had already gone to the ward trunk or treat and got tons of candy so we just took them around the block for a little bit.  It's starting to get really cold outside!  This year, being on a student budget, I had to be very creative and use what I had in the house to make the kids costumes.  Kylee's costume cost me around $8 to make and the only thing I had to buy for Austin's costume was the brown beanie and the wings (I didn't make those).  I was really surprised he kept his costume on the whole night.

Our first house (a friendly neighbor) gave the kids fruit!  Kylee started eating the apple right away and snacked on it the entire time trick or treating.  Too funny.

First Fall in Iowa

We were so excited when a classmates daughter of Jeremy's offered to take our pictures at their family barn.  She is in high school and wanted practice shooting a family and we were happy to let her.   I thought it would be the perfect scene for our first fall in Iowa.  It showed off all the pretty fall leaves and even the corn fields.  The kids were preoccupied with all the cats running around and didn't look at the camera very much, but we were happy with the few pictures we got.  I do not love being photographed pregnant but I didn't want to miss out on the fall leaves and it really was the most fun we've ever had getting our pictures taken.

And then there were...

3!!!   We are happy to announce that we are expecting baby #3 on March 16th!  Right now I'm currently 21 weeks.  We found out last week at my ultrasound that we are definitely having a baby boy!          I actually found out we were having a boy at my 14 week ultrasound by accident and I wanted to surprise Jeremy, so when I got home Kylee and I made a cake and surprised Daddy when he got home from school.

College Game Day

Let's cover something very quickly: Football is a BIG deal in Iowa. Hawkeye football in Iowa City is the most important thing going on here half the year and so on gameday's in the Fall Iowa City pretty much shuts down for Iowa football at Kinnick Stadium. Iowa City's population doubles in size on gameday with so many people coming into town to tailgate and go to the game all over town. It's cool to see all of the motorhomes coming into town all day on Friday to stay for the weekend festivities.

We went to the institute breakfast tailgate "party" in the morning and had a good time with friends. The institute is a block or two from the stadium so its right in the middle of the action on gameday!

The Iowa homecoming parade was a success! The school puts on a big parade Friday night of homecoming all throughout downtown Iowa City so we went with some friends and hung out and watched the parade
